Join me to shape the future.
I love Kirkland and the opportunity it provides. Our City has a rich history rooted in the working class of shipyards and wool mills. Our local businesses create opportunity and growth through their entrepreneurial spirit. We are diverse in background and are stronger together as we build community.
Our City is not homogenous. Each neighborhood has unique pressures and differentiators. Our communities are not equally represented within the City or even within the neighborhoods. I acknowledge that and commit to working with each community to truly listen and understand your needs. I will use my voice to amplify yours and make sure you are heard.
Together we can shape the future of Kirkland to build a vibrant progressive city that is rooted in its strong maritime history. We have an unparalleled park system and access to Lake Washington that helps define the energy of our City. With that energy comes an intense pressure on existing housing and services. We have unparalleled opportunity for new growth, but we must find a way to balance that against the needs and interests of existing residents and the long-term affordability of our community. Measured, balanced growth that follows a robust and forward thinking plan is a requirement and is something that we need to create together in a transparent, open discussion.
It is time to take charge of our future and set a common agenda that respects our past and celebrates the diversity of the thirteen neighborhoods that are Kirkland. As your elected Council Member, that is what I will commit to do.
